Old find

This July will be 5 yrs. that we've been here in Naperville, IL. Last night, I came across a box of things I haven't seen in forever! When I was in my early 20s, I was into beading. I made the peyote stitch bags, a lampshade, rings, bracelets, you name it. I was into the beading craze! I found this purse that took me forever to make. I think I only used it a few times b/c I was afraid it would fall apart. It's been in storage for more than 10 years & is in perfect condition. I still love the blue & can't believe I made it!!

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day! I had a great day w/my family. My husband and kids made me a delicious breakfast and gave me great cards made at school.
Bought and planted flowers. Had sushi for dinner with my mom. Spent time together! Gessoed over a page I sprayed with Dylusion inks. Then I added some paint in cobalt teal- a favorite.

Practice

I've been spending some time practicing how to draw a nose and eye in a more realistic way. My goal is not photo realism. I think photo realists are incredible. I think I'm aiming for something in between real and fantasy.

My son turned 10 last week! I remember the day he was born like it was yesterday.

Playing around with spray paint, new stencil from Crafter's Workshop (Julie Fei-fen Balzer) and a piece of foam in the shape of a heart. I also was playing with my own lettering and am annoyed I ran out of room. Oh well!

Bugsy Mallone

Lately I keep thinking about the movie "Bugsy Mallone". Did you see it when you were a kid? Every single character in the movie was played by a child. Many very famous actors/actresses were in the movie: Jodie Foster, Scott Baio, Florrie Dugger, John Cassis and Paul Williams. There wasn't a single adult in the movie. The machine guns shot out whipped cream! I can't get the main song out of my head, so I keep listening to it. I'm thinking of buying the movie, but it would be for me. I don't know if my kids would like it.

Not loving the face I painted here. It's very scrunched, but I'm liking using my fingers lately!

21 Secrets

Last week I was sick. I mean REALLY sick. My husband said in the 11 years we've been married, he's never seen me so sick. So sick that I went to our ENT and after she scoped me, she couldn't believe how sick I was! She put me on steroids and antibiotics for a very severe sinus infection. I felt awful! She told me to make sure I eat probiotics to help with stomach issues from the meds. So.... yesterday I stopped at Red Mango and got this!

Cake Batter yogurt with yogurt chips! Crazy yummy!!! I think their soft serve is probiotic. Do you know? I really didn't care because it was SO deeeeeeelish. I want to drive back there for more now. What's your favorite kind of yogurt ice cream?

I am taking the online class "21 Secrets" and having a good time with it so far. I've watched a few of the videos and they are great. Very inspiring! At this point, I have only completed one assignment and it was for Nolwenn Petitbois' class called "Journaling Our (He)art Out.

new app

I found a great new app and have been playing with it! I think I like the Photo Stream so I can take pics with my phone and then they automatically appear in my desktop library. This app has so many cool options. Here are some recent pieces from my journal and a girl I'm working on. I took the pics with my phone, altered them in the app and then uploaded them here!

Lately, I've been finger painting in my journal. This page was inspired by Max, my Havanese that was rescued from life in a puppy mill. The first picture is what I painted, the second picture is how I altered it in Camera+. The effect is called "fashion".
